Contagion! The BBC4 Pandemic – mathematical modelling meets citizen science

Petra is an assistant professor in infectious disease modelling, having moved recently from Public Health England, where she worked on the spatial dynamics of influenza. She has previously worked with Prof. Ottar Bjornstad at Penn State University and Prof. Bryan Grenfell at Princeton University on control and management of infectious diseases and has also been a visiting researcher Disease Dynamics Group at the University of Cambridge with Dr. Julia Gog.

This is the second seminar in the special seminar series organised alongside the shortcourse “An Introduction to Infectious Disease Modelling and its Applications”.  It will cover the work Petra was involved in on simulating an influenza outbreak in a community in England and estimating contact patterns, which was the subject of a recent BBC documentary.
