Economic interventions to prevent intimate partner violence
16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence
This session will examine the role of economic interventions in preventing intimate partner violence (IPV), featuring two impactful studies from Bangladesh and Ethiopia.
Presentations:
- Evolution of intimate partner violence impacts from cash transfers, food transfers, and behaviour change communication: Mixed-method experimental evidence from an eight-year post-programme follow-up in Bangladesh
- “Cash plus” and intimate partner violence: Exploring the benefits of group delivery in Ethiopia
The first presentation explores the long-term impacts of cash transfers, food transfers, and behavior change communication on IPV, drawing from an eight-year post-programme follow-up in Bangladesh. The second presentation delves into the "Cash Plus" approach in Ethiopia, highlighting the added benefits of group delivery in reducing IPV. Together, these studies provide valuable insights into how economic empowerment strategies can be integrated with social support systems to prevent IPV and improve outcomes for women and communities.
