Dr Eleanor (Baz) Barry

Research Fellow

United Kingdom

I am a Research Fellow in the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in Immunisation at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine under Theme 1 (Making the most of real-world data). Theme 1 aims to increase vaccine coverage and support a data-driven immunisation programme by making the most of digital technologies and linked electronic health records. In collaboration with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), I will be utilising CPRD data to improve vaccine coverage.

I was previously a Statistician in the Women's Health Research Unit at Queen Mary University of London, with work including a pragmatic, multi-centre, three-arm randomised controlled trial on the use of time-lapse imaging in in-vitro fertilisation treatment, and large data studies on the association between low birthweight centiles and both maternal and childhood outcomes. I completed my PhD at the University of Bath (SAMBa CDT) investigating a possible causal impact of Systemic Sclerosis on cancer, with an emphasis on prevalent cohorts.

Teaching

During my PhD at the University of Bath, I tutored introductory statistics and data analytics to non-mathematicians. I am currently a tutor for the scholars programme as part of 'The Brilliant Club', an external scheme which places PhD/post-PhD researchers in schools across the UK to deliver university-style learning.
