I am a Research Fellow at LSHTM, working on the history of charity in the National Health Service as part of the Border Crossings project on charity and voluntarism in Britain’s mixed economy of health care since 1948. I am a health humanities researcher with an interest in health and welfare charity, mental health experiences, the psy-disciplines, the NHS and interdisciplinary methods. I am an affiliated researcher at the Birkbeck Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Mental Health.
Prior to joining LSHTM, I completed my PhD in Cambridge University History Faculty. My thesis examines the history of psychotherapy and psychological recovery in British mental health charities between 1879 and 1939. I previously worked in policy in the charity and local government sectors, and hold an MA in Health Humanities from UCL and a BA in History from Durham University.
