Currently, he is involved in a range of studies conducted in Mwanza city, including a clinical trial to assess the impact of a social-worker intervention on reducing post-hospital mortality among HIV patients; observational studies to determine the incidence and determinants of hypertension among HIV-infected and uninfected adults and adolescents and young people; and in a study to develop and evaluate an intervention programme to screen and treat or refer adolescents aged 10-19 years for a range of common conditions using routine health check-ups. Saidi is also a Co-Principal Investigator of the MRC-funded study to investigate substance use disorders among men in urban and rural communities in South Africa.
