Ms Morgan Lemin
Research Student - MPhil/PhD - Infectious & Tropical Diseases
United Kingdom
I am a PhD Candidate within the Clinical Research Department at LSHTM, funded by the MRC LID Doctoral Training Studentship Programme. I am particularly interested in using emerging technologies, such as AI, to solve often neglected issues in women's health within Africa. Drawing from a diverse skill set, I have been working on building a computer vision algorithm for the enhanced detection of female genital schistosomiais, which I will complement with individual Bayesian risk modelling. My PhD is currently titled "Applied Artificial Intelligence & Open-Source Data Methods for Female Genital Schistosomiasis and Global Women’s Health".
Prior to starting this PhD, I worked on the CLIMSEDIS project at The University of Liverpool. This project aims to develop climate-sensitive disease forecasting in the Horn of Africa. I have a Masters degree from the University of Queensland, Australia, in environmental public health. My dissertation looked at the environmental drivers of lymphatic filarisis in American Samoa. My undergraduate degree was in nursing, which means I have first hand experience working in primary health care.
