Discussion Meeting on Planetary Health
Discussion meeting on the follow up to the report of the Rockefeller Foundation/ Lancet Commission on Planetary Health - including plans for Future Earth, the Planetary Health Alliance and related environment-human health communities to work together going forward
The Rockefeller Foundation-Lancet Commission on Planetary Health report described how, over the coming century, global environmental pressures threaten the health of current and future populations, including reversing the hard fought gains in health and development over the last 50 years. It also outlined strategies that could both safeguard health and protect the Earth’s natural systems on which human health fundamentally depends.
This discussion meeting will update on progress since the release of the Planetary Health Commission report; provide an open opportunity for participants to give input on how we can all work together to actively contribute to new initiatives such as the Planetary Health Alliance and Future Earth; and, reinforce how the initiatives should collaborate to address shared challenges of global environmental change and human health.
