GVHC PhD showcase
16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence
This session highlights innovative violence-related PhD research from GVHC, showcasing two distinct studies that explore the intersection of violence, displacement, and social transformation.
The first study focuses on co-creating safe spaces for Rohingya girls in Malaysia through participatory action research with urban refugees and asylum-seekers, examining how collaborative efforts can empower vulnerable communities. The second presentation explores "The Voyage to Manhood in the ‘New Uzbekistan’," investigating how societal expectations of masculinity influence young men's experiences of violence and identity in Tashkent. Both studies offer unique insights into the role of social and cultural contexts in addressing violence and promoting resilience.
