Professor Gordon Dougan elected Fellow of the Royal Society

Congratulations to Professor Gordon Dougan, Honorary Professor at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and head of Pathogens at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, on his election to the Fellowship of the Royal Society, the UK's leading scientific organisation.

The honour recognises Professor Dougan's significant contribution to the genetics of infectious disease. His team has been involved in a number of major high-profile worldwide collaborations to investigate methods for developing vaccines against diseases including typhoid, whooping cough, malaria, and tuberculosis. Committed to collaborative working and open-access research, Professor Dougan is particularly interested in the career development of younger scientists and the transfer of expertise to those working in developing countries. He is currently active in several collaborative projects with the Department of Pathogen and Molecular Biology.
