Contact Kari LeungEducational/professional background
Born and raised in Hong Kong, I moved to London to pursue a Master of Pharmacy degree at the UCL School of Pharmacy. During my time at university, I was a founding co-lead for the UCL Fight the Fakes campaign, a student-led initiative working alongside partners across various industries to tackle the growing threat of falsified medicines. After qualifying as a pharmacist, I worked for the NHS in a large district general hospital in North West London.
Research interests or career goals
I’m particularly interested in health care systems and how we can strive to achieve an efficient, equitable, and sustainable system with a strong emphasis on improving patient outcomes. I’m eager to combine my clinical background as a pharmacist with the new skills I’m learning this year.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I was particularly drawn to LSHTM by its phenomenal reputation in the field of public health. The academic staff are leading experts, and the student body is incredibly diverse, making for an exceptional learning environment. The MSc Public Health course covers the basics of public health but also gives students a high degree of flexibility when picking elective modules. This gives students the opportunity to truly delve into the specialisms they wish to pursue.
