I am a UK-based optometrist. My main role has been with “Vision Care for Homeless” a charity for whom I have been working with over the last two years as their principal optometrist. I am involved in various projects as a translator with “Global Health Knowledge Initiative” and recently “COVID-19 Infographics”. This was established around February this year in response to the problem of misinformation about COVID-19 amongst the BAME communities in the UK. I was appointed as a “Content Creator” to produce eye-related materials for “Eye health awareness week” in September 2020 which has reached a huge number of people.
Research interests or career goals
My career goal is to be able to continue my clinical role as an optometrist and contribute towards the field of research ophthalmology in South Asia.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
Following my BSc, I have always been interested in pursuing a career in the field of research. After many hours of looking into postgraduate study, I came across this course by LSHTM. This is the only UK institution providing an eye-related research course which had the added benefit of being globally applicable.
