Based in the Child Protection Research Group, Jodie currently works on several projects related to the evaluation of The Good School Toolkit, a school-based intervention to reduce violence against children in Uganda. Projects include a pilot trial of the Good School Toolkit for secondary schools and a mixed-methods study evaluating a new, scalable delivery model of the Toolkit. She is also undertaking a Staff PhD on work related to the Good School Toolkit.
Some of Jodie's other work includes a project exploring how social norms around violence affect the development of adverse outcomes, in addition to a mixed-methods evidence synthesis project examining the relationship between violence in childhood and work outcomes, and whether skills training programmes may help support young people in Uganda into decent work.
Prior to LSHTM, Jodie completed an internship at an operational research unit of MSF UK, and worked on research related to the use of medical data in humanitarian settings. She has a BSc in Natural Sciences from the University of Bath and MSc in Public Health from LSHTM.

Teaching
Jodie teaches on two MSc modules at LSHTM: Issues in Public Health and Social Epidemiology.
Jodie has also supported the development and teaching of a new pilot course, co-created by Together for Girls and LSHTM, which aims to equip early career researchers to conduct research using data from the Violence Against Children Surveys (VACS) and communicate findings to policymakers and key stakeholders.

Research
Jodie's research focuses on child protection and draws on social epidemiology and mixed-methods approaches to understand both the causes and consequences of violence against children, and evaluate interventions to prevent violence. Current projects include:
- A pilot trial of a school-based intervention, the Good School Toolkit, to prevent violence in secondary schools
- A project exploring how social norms around violence affect the development of adverse outcomes following exposure to childhood violence
- A mixed methods evidence synthesis project examining the relationship between childhood violence and decent work, and how skills training may help support young people in Uganda into decent work
