New accessibility guide for LSHTM buildings launched

LSHTM becomes the latest of over 85 higher education providers across the UK to partner with AccessAble.
AccessAble

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) has teamed up with AccessAble to create new Detailed Access Guides to teaching/meeting spaces and rooms across its buildings in London.

The guides contain facts, figures and photographs aimed to help students, visitors and staff plan their journeys to and around LSHTM’s London buildings, covering everything from parking facilities and hearing loops, to walking distances and accessible toilets. All of the details in the guide have been checked in person, on site, by trained surveyors.

Clare Matysova, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Manager at LSHTM, said: “At LSHTM, it’s important to us that everyone using our buildings has access to information and guidance suited to their needs. Whether current and prospective staff and students or a one-off visitor, we hope these guides with AccessAble will improve the experience of those accessing our buildings and provide a more inclusive, welcoming environment for all.”

AccessAble is the UK’s leading provider of detailed disabled-access information. David Livermore, Director of Business Development at AccessAble, said: “We are delighted to launch Detailed Access Guides to the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine’s buildings. LSHTM have made a significant investment in accessibility. They’ve worked in partnership with us to ensure in-depth access information to the campus is easily available. That is vital for disabled students, staff and visitors and valuable for everybody.

"Our initiative is all about removing barriers to higher education and improving the experience for everyone. We welcome LSHTM into our national network of 85 universities across the country who are committed to including disabled people.”
