Remembering Dr Jeroen Ensink
Dr Jeroen Ensink was an internationally-renowned water engineer and dedicated humanitarian. He was passionately committed to improving access to water and sanitation around the world, including in low- and middle-income countries where children continue to die due to the lack of essential services.
Jeroen was a senior lecturer in public health engineering and a course director for the MSc Public Health for Development between 2009 and 2015. Jeroen was a much loved colleague and member of the LSHTM community.
At the time of his death, Jeroen was leading work to improve the control of cholera in emergency situations. He worked closely with research institutes in Africa and Asia and devoted much effort to support them in developing research capacity.
Following his death in 2015, the LSHTM established the Jeroen Ensink Memorial Fund in his name to support students from sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia who are committed to improving public health in developing countries and wish to undertake the MSc Public Health for Development course.
