I am a part-time PhD student and part-time Consultant in Public Health in a London local authority, with interests in mental health, health inequalities and the social and structural determinants of health. I have worked in the voluntary sector, NHS, UK Health Security Agency and in local and regional government. I am particularly interested in how local, regional and national government policies can mitigate or exacerbate inequalities in mental health outcomes. I joined LSHTM as a research student in September 2021.

Research

My research focuses on the impact of changes to maternity and paternity leave policy on mental health outcomes for parents. Applying quasi-experimental methods to evaluate a series of policy changes from the UK, my research will build a quantitative evidence base about the mental health effects of access to paid and job protected leave for new parents.

My PhD supervisors are Veronique Filippi and Stephen O'Neill at LSHTM, and Emilie Courtin at the London School of Economics.
