Experience, evidence and some intuition in responding to COVID-19 in Singapore
As Senior Director of Communicable Diseases at the Ministry of Health, Singapore, Professor Vernon Lee has been instrumental in shaping Singapore’s response to COVID-19. His experience in infectious diseases preparedness and response, and global health policy, developed from his involvement in various outbreaks and pandemics, including SARS in 2003, H1N1 influenza in 2009, and Zika virus disease in 2015, among many others.
Furthermore, with a keen interest in public health research, he advocates for collaboration with multiple stakeholders to perform infectious diseases epidemiology research to facilitate evidence-based policy decision-making.
In this seminar, Professor Lee will discuss how Singapore’s response has evolved over the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of science and technology to support public health and policymaking, and how Singapore will prepare for emerging pathogens in the future.
