Agriculture-food systems for nutrition: Lessons learned and current priorities

Two workers tending to crops

We are currently faced with two big questions in the grand challenge of improving global nutrition:

  1. How do we make our agriculture-food systems sustainable and healthy to all people in this rapidly transforming context?

  1. How do we make nutritious diets physically and economically accessible in an equitable and just way?

This talk will discuss what we have learned so far regarding the linkages between agriculture-food systems and nutrition, the progress in building methods and metrics to study these linkages and what actions can strengthen agriculture-food system’s contribution to nutrition outcomes in low and middle income countries. The talk will then conclude by highlighting the current priorities including markets, equity and sustainability.
