I am a medical doctor and graduated from Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Pakistan in 2013. Since then I have been working in the field of clinical and preventive medicine with a special focus on maternal and child healthcare. Prior to starting my master's at LSHTM, I completed a certificate level program (Public Health and Health Services) at UoPeople, USA to better acquaint myself with the distance learning experience.
Research Interests and Career Goals
I have assisted research in treatment-seeking behaviours related to psoriasis and also in treatment compliance related to injectable interferon used in Hepatitis C treatment. In future, I would like to delve into generating research proven quantifiable benefits of ‘health in all policies’ for low and middle-income countries. I would like to further my work in preventive medicine and expand my experience beyond my current geographical boundary.
Why I chose LSHTM
Since the start of my application process with LSHTM, I found the school to hold true to its promise of equity, diversity and inclusion. I was attracted towards the ethos of LSHTM in addition to its reputation as a leader in public health studies, globally.
Being a mother of two, the Public Health by Distance Learning program gives me the opportunity to study at a world-renowned institute without having to relocate my family and undertake my master's at a pace which does not clash with my other commitments.
