I am a medical doctor from the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Yaounde I, Cameroon since November 2017. I started as a physician in the far north of Cameroon where infant and maternal mortality caused by malaria, malnutrition and HIV is the highest. I then joined MTN Cameroon as company doctor in 2020 to help fight against COVID-19. Since March 2022, I am the Medical Science Liaison at Novartis Cameroon focusing on scientific communication with Key Open Leaders covering neuroscience therapeutic areas. I am studying Cinicial Trials by distance learning.
Research interests or career goals
I’m interested in innovative medicine drug development, mainly sickle cell disease, oncology, malaria and HIV which are responsible for the highest percentage of mortality rate in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
Being a clinician for four years gave me the opportunity to practice medicine at a different level of the health pyramid of a developing country. The summary of this short period of time was that there is a need for a drastic change and amelioration of our global health policies to have a better impact on our populations, the majority of whom don't have the minimum access to health. Clinical trials give the possibility to develop and are still under-explored in Africa despite its primary resources. LSHTM gives the environment for proper development with a high interest in developing countries and a number of world-class researchers ready to share with fellow students coming from different backgrounds.
