Everything everywhere all at once: interdisciplinary research across multiple microbes
In this inaugural lecture, Katharina Kranzer, Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology, will present the full breadth of her research on multiple pathogens.
Professor Katharina Kranzer's career includes extensive research on multiple pathogens including tuberculosis, HIV, Gram negative infections and antimicrobial resistance, sexual transmitted infections and SARS-CoV-2 from bench, to bedside, homes and communities. She will illustrate how research platforms are used to nourish and build early career scientists.

Katharina Kranzer
Katharina Kranzer is Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at LSHTM, co-director of The Health Research Unit Zimbabwe at the Biomedical Research and Training Institute and Senior Scientist at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Munich. Katharina trained in Medicine at the Technical University in Munich and completed her PhD thesis focused on tuberculosis control in high HIV prevalence settings at LSHTM. She completed her specialist training in medical microbiology and virology in 2015 and directed the National and Supranational Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory in Germany from 2015-2018. Since then she has been based in Zimbabwe where she leads studies on a range of infectious diseases and co-directs the CREATE PhD fellowship for African fellows across six African institutions.
