I am a consultant in Infectious Diseases with a PhD in Clinical Medicine Research. I have more than 10 years' cumulative experience in viral hepatitis research and clinical care in Africa. I currently lead the Hepatitis Research Group at the MRC Unit The Gambia at LSHTM and coordinate the PROLIFICA program in The Gambia (www.prolifica.africa). I am a Board Member of the Society on Liver Disease in Africa (SOLDA) and serve on both the organising and scientific committees of the Conference on Liver Disease in Africa (COLDA).

Research
My research investigates the underlying mechanisms and outcomes of chronic hepatitis B infection in Africans, with an aim to develop new biomarkers to simply diagnosis and monitoring, predict prognosis and identify new targets for curative therapy.
