Stefan holds degrees in health communication and epidemiology and is leading the evaluation of a maternal-neonatal health program operating in the Amazonas region of Peru. He is currently based in Lima where he also acts as a technical director overseeing the program’s operations. He pursues a part-time PhD in epidemiology on the same topic at the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine since 2017. His other research interests include infectious diseases, he has collaborated as a co-investigator on projects related to influenza and herpes simplex virus in Peru. In the light of the pandemic he has investigated responses and consequences of Covid-19 in indigenous communities.
