This year's annual lecture, titled 'TB and HIV Colliding Epidemics: Voices on the Ground' will be held in Cape Town with a watch party in London.
This annual lecture is organised in honour of the life and work of Stephen Lawn. Steve was Professor of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and an active member of the TB Centre and worked closely with the Desmond Tutu HIV Centre at the University of Cape Town (UCT), where he was based from 2005 to 2012. Steve worked tirelessly to improve the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis among people living with HIV/AIDS. He authored over 250 publications and received many awards.
This year’s memorial lecture is titled: TB and HIV Colliding Epidemics: Voices on the Ground
This year, the Stephen Lawn Memorial Lecture takes on an exciting new format, based on Professor Madhu Pai’s powerful appeal highlighted in his lecture in 2023, to enable the voices of those people affected by TB and/or HIV to be heard and considered with regard to future research and policy. The panellists are all personally affected and/or part of organisations of affected people:
