Dr Selin Köksal

Assistant Professor in Demography

United Kingdom

I am a quantitative social demographer curious about fertility and reproductive health matters. In particular, I am interested in understanding social and contextual determinants of various reproductive experiences (e.g. abortion, pregnancy loss, childbirth and infertility) and their implications for life course and well-being.

I joined Population Studies Group at LSHTM in March 2024 as an Assistant Professor in Demography. Before joining LSHTM, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Institute for Social and Economic Research at University of Essex. I received my PhD in Public Policy and Administration (Social Dynamics track) from Bocconi University in Italy in 2022. I hold MA in Economics from the University of Warwick, UK and BA in Economics from Galatasaray University, Turkey.
