The Role of Indonesian Diaspora Towards Golden Indonesia 2045: Career Opportunities in the Health System Transformation Era
Join us for an insightful lecture delivered by Dr Dante Saksono Harbuwono, the Vice Minister of Health, Republic of Indonesia on the role of the Indonesian diaspora in Indonesia’s Health System Transformation.
The lecture will start with a brief review of Indonesia’s Health System Transformation towards the ‘Golden Indonesia 2045’ vision, followed by an exploration of career and research partnership pathways and opportunities available in various fields, including NCDs, nutrition, vaccination, and digital health. This lecture will discuss how to contribute and navigate your career and/or research in line with Indonesia’s vision of health. Following the lecture there will be a 30-minute Q&A session with the speaker.
This event is aimed at the Indonesian diaspora but is open to the public and MSc students from diverse programs who are interested in Indonesia’s health system and/or career opportunities.

Dante Saksono Harbuwono, MD (Endocrinologist), PhD, Vice Minister of Health, Republic of Indonesia
Dr Harbuwono, currently serves as the Vice Minister of Health, Republic of Indonesia. He is co-leading the Indonesian Health System Transformation reform with Minister Budi Sadikin after recent success in curbing the COVID-19 pandemic and accelerating COVID-19 vaccination.
He is a well-known diabetic expert, researcher, and lecturer at the University of Indonesia who has published more than 55 peer-reviewed articles. He earned several international awards and recognitions from the International Diabetes Federation Asia Pacific, Tajima Awards, and Takeda Science Foundation.
Dr Harbuwono led the diabetic cluster of Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Indonesia largest public hospital. At national level, Dr Harbuwono coordinates the research and development program of the Indonesia Endocrinologist Association (PERKENI) 2018-2021. He also has been a part of the Indonesia Presidential Medical Team since 2014.
During the current administration, Dr Harbuwono hopes to deliver the health system transformation, particularly in primary and referral care. In primary care, he oversees program acceleration for top priority Non-Communicable Diseases (cancer, stroke, diabetes) and Communicable Diseases (HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria). And in referral care, he focused on the rapid expansion of Academic Health System, and international hospital collaboration.
