Educational/professional background

I hold a BA in Sociology from FLAME University (2022) and have worked with the National Institute of Epidemiology under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). As a project task manager and field research assistant, I contributed to a large-scale implementation study exploring the benefits of peer-support groups for managing non-communicable diseases in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Research interests or career goals

My interests span social determinants of health, homelessness and health, maternal health, planetary health and the intersectionality of health equity. I am passionate about qualitative research particularly in generating ethnographic evidence on marginalized communities, integrating indigenous health knowledge, and addressing chronic illnesses among socio-economically disadvantaged groups. My ultimate goal is to contribute to impactful research and policy initiatives through NGOs or think tanks that closely collaborate with government bodies in developing countries.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

As a leading institution in Public Health research and education, LSHTM offers the specialized training I seek to develop and implement effective health interventions and social action. Inspired by mentors at FLAME and ICMR and public health leaders like Dr Paul Farmer and Dr Sylvia Karpagam, I enrolled at LSHTM to acquire skills for advancing health equity through critical research and social action.

Extra information

I can advise on time/resource management while working part-time, stream selection, and supporting students with disabilities.
