STI Vaccine Workshop: Innovations for impact
STIRIG and the Vaccine Centre are co-sponsoring the STI Vaccine Workshop. A number of researchers working in STI vaccines will present their work, and there will be an opportunity for group discussion. The expected outcomes of the discussion are to identify bottlenecks and facilitators of vaccine development and implementation, and to make an action of plan of what LSHTM and collaborators can do to fill the gaps.
Workshop sessions will include an opening talk by Sami Gottlieb from the WHO who will present the WHO roadmap for STI vaccine development, followed by talks by leading researchers on vaccines for chlamydia, gonorrhoea and Herpes simplex virus. Speakers will address: (1) the need for the vaccine/epidemiology, (2) what stage of development the vaccine is at; (3) bottlenecks for development and implementation. The workshop will end with a chaired discussion on future directions. The workshop will be followed by the Vaccine Centre Annual Lecture on STIs and Vaccines.
