Adolescents theme
- Emma Singer
- Abigail Angell
I am on the MSc Nutrition for Global Health course. I have come to LSHTM straight from my undergraduate at the University of Brighton where I studied Sport and Exercise Science. Throughout my undergraduate studies I worked with the Lawn Tennis Association on a variety of participation projects to promote youth engagement in sport on a national level. I am really looking forward to applying my human physiology, psychology and nutrition knowledge from my undergraduate on a global-scale to tackle the health challenges faced by mothers, children and adolescents, and be at the forefront of positive change in these areas. Outside of my studies I love playing tennis (although I will try any sport!) and running in the countryside.
I am particularly interested in developing my knowledge around child and adolescent health with a focus on the role nutrition and the impact malnutrition has on physical and cognitive development. Children and adolescents are vastly under-researched in global health and I am looking forward to working within the centre to propel the vision of raising awareness of the fundamental research regarding the contemporary challenges faced by young people.

I bring a rich background in women’s and sexual health research. I have award-winning research which I have taken to national and international conferences and am passionate about advancing maternal and reproductive health and empowering women through health education. I recently completed a Medical French diploma at KCL and am currently pursuing a Medical Spanish diploma, underscoring a commitment to advocacy that transcends language barriers. Through my role, I aim to engage students in impactful, inclusive events that align with the MARCH Centre’s mission to improve health outcomes across the life course.

My name is Marjovie and I am a MSc candidate in Reproductive and Sexual Health Research. I am a third-year medical student intercalating from the University of Hong Kong with a keen interest in fertility and reproductive justice.
- Olga Laskin
I am pursuing my MSc in Public Health for Development at LSHTM. Prior to joining LSHTM, I spent five years working in various levels of US politics with a primary interest in abortion policy. Most recently, I was a federal lobbyist for PAI, a global sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) civil society organisation, where I worked with the Biden Administration and US Congress to combat abortion restrictions on US global health funding and programming. My interests include abortion, contraception, LGBTQI+ communities, adolescent SRHR, menstrual health, and HIV prevention particularly among key populations.
I'm excited to be working with the MARCH Centre to dive deeper into the research and evaluation that guides these areas and elevate the work of the Centre!

I am a MSc Public Health student. I have previously worked as a research assistant exploring the relationship between physical activity, mental wellbeing and cognition in adolescents as well as changes in cognition across the menstrual cycle in women. - Armaan Ujra
I have a combined passion for child health and health systems strengthening, with over 6 years of clinical and research implementation experience. Currently pursuing an MSc in Climate Change and Planetary Health at LSHTM, I envision a world in which children benefit from the burgeoning field of Planetary Health, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.
In my previous roles at Wits RHI (a South African research and implementation institute), I advised on and led strategies in paediatric HIV management, focused on implementing interventions at scale, and collaborated with (inter)national stakeholders to improve the quality of HIV-related interventions in South Africa. I am enthusiastic about healthcare education and capacitation, and have participated in content development and execution of HIV-related training for healthcare workers, healthcare managers and undergraduate students.
