Basse Field Station wins GRTS NGO of the Year Award

MRC Unit The Gambia’s field station in the Upper River Region of The Gambia has won Basse Gambia Radio and Television Service’s NGO of the Year Award for 2013.

In the notification letter, Alhaji Nuha Badjie, Regional Manager for GRTS in Basse stated that the Award was given ‘after monitoring all [the MRC’s] activities in URR in the area of research, the refurbishment of an apartment and sponsoring the children's ward at Basse Health Centre.’
Alhaji Badjie also noted the MRC’s contribution to clinical care in partnership with the Ministry of Health in the Upper River Region, particularly with respect to the diagnosis and treatment of ‘thousands of children infected with pneumonia and many [other diseases] – including my own child.’

Ms Gyasiwaa Amofa, Head of Operations, Basse Field Station said ‘This award is a great honour and pays tribute to the hard work of the MRC’s staff at Basse Field Station. I could not be more proud at this moment to be associated with MRC Basse.’

The Directors conveyed their own congratulatory messages to Basse:
