MRC Unit The Gambia hosts the Wellcome Trust Advanced Course on Molecular Approaches to Clinical Microbiology in Africa

The Wellcome Genome Campus Department of Courses and Conferences will be hosting its annual training course on Molecular Approaches to Clinical Microbiology in Africa at the MRC Unit The Gambia in Fajara from the 5th to 10th March 2016.
The course will be taught by an international and highly distinguished team of instructors from the MRC Unit The Gambia; Public Health England, UK; University of Oxford, UK; Kenya Medical Research Institute, Kenya; University of Oxford, UK; Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Trust Research Programme and the University of Cape Town, South Africa. The course will be based around three key themes: mycobacterium tuberculosis; enteric bacteria and antimicrobial resistance/encapsulated bacteria.

The course will provide clinical microbiologists and laboratory scientists working in Africa, a concise yet comprehensive overview of the latest research and practice in this essential area with emphasis on how techniques can be applied daily in an African setting, especially where resources are limited.
