Strengthening collaboration with MRC Technology

The visit of delegates from MRC Technology (MRCT), Tony Chapman (Licensing Manager),Mike Bond (Business Manager) and Jade Onakunle (Licensing and Agreements Officer) in March was well received by the Directorate of MRC Unit The Gambia.
The purpose of their visit was to strengthen collaboration and promote how MRCT can support MRCG. During their visit, the delegation delivered seminars and had drop-in sessions to advise staff on contract review process and how to identify, protect and manage intellectual property in research.

During their visit, Director Umberto D’Alessandro, Director of Operations Joan Vives Tomas and departments involved in contracts such as the Research Support Office and Research Governance, delivered short presentations about the MRCG’s scientific strategy and The Unit’s management systems to provide The Unit level and national context for the ensuing visit.

It was a successful visit as the delegates had a tour of the Clinical Services and Laboratory facilities in Fajara and Keneba field station. They also visited Soma which is in the Upper River Region (URR) of the Gambia were Dr Bernard Ebruke showcased the impact of the Oxygen Project in improving health care delivery within the URR.
