The 2017 MRC Unit The Gambia Festival

MRC Unit The Gambia, joins multiple MRC-funded sites to mark the second MRC Festival of Medical Research.
As MRC Unit The Gambia celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, our interactive MRCG Festival is a great opportunity to explore The Unit’s large research portfolio, learn more about our research priorities and ask questions about the work we do.

The event is an excellent opportunity to showcase the achievements of our young scientists and offer the opportunity to transfer knowledge. It will engage staff and the local community for a wider understanding of MRCG’s strategic objectives which is to save lives and improve health across the world. It will build trust in medical research by sharing research findings and interventions with the local and the international scientific community.

As part of the programme, collaborators will be taken on a journey where they will have the opportunity to explore our research activities through interactive demonstrations and innovative infographics.

When asked about his expectations for this year’s festival, Prof Umberto D’ Alessandro, Unit Director said,” This Festival is a fantastic opportunity to show our research and the potential impact of its results on everybody’s life. Last year Festival was a resounding success and I have been impressed by the keen interest in science shown by the visitors. I hope this year we will be able to stimulate the same level of interest. Promoting dialogue with the public about medical research is part of the Medical Research Council’s mission.”
