Vaccine Wastage Study Workshop

MRC Unit The Gambia is hosting a workshop on the 15th June 2017 at the Bray Lecture Theatre, in Fajara. The workshop aims to share the results of the Vaccine wastage study and the Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) cross sectional survey with all the stakeholders involved. This includes the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) unit in The Gambia and other stakeholders involved in vaccine service delivery.
The workshop will give stakeholders a wide range of information on the outcome of the KAP project which was conducted in selected health facilities in The Gambia.

The project was coordinated by Dr Effua Usuf (post-doctoral fellow MRCG/LSHTM, Disease Control and Elimination) with the EPI unit, in collaboration with MRCG, and was funded by the World Health Organisation/Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (WHO-TDR).

The workshop is an exciting opportunity to share ideas with experts in the field of medical research on wastage rates for each of the vaccines in our national EPI. Invitations have been extended to the World Health Organisation (WHO), United Nations International, Children's Education Fund (UNICEF), the Director of Health Services, the EPI unit and the regional health teams.
