Speaking at the award night, Prof Umberto D'Alessandro, MRCG Unit Director, expressed delight in recognising the dedicated Staff of MRCG:
“Tonight, we want to recognise the special contribution of individual staff and teams to the success of the Unit. Besides the standard categories such as Research Leader of Tomorrow or Outstanding Research Team, we are also recognizing staff that make the implementation of our research possible. This is why we have extended the recognition to teams operating within the operations, research, and essential support services. I am particularly happy that we are spending this evening together as I think it shows how we should relate to and work with each other as one team.”
He concluded “I believe this Unit is an exceptional place where high quality research and training is carried out. A Unit that has a substantial influence on health policies which have a major beneficial impact on the life of hundreds of millions of people. We should all be proud (I am) to be part of this prestigious institution that has had, and continues to have, such an impact on global health.”
