Unit launches collaborative HIV research and prevention programme with the Uganda Police

On 29th October 2015, the Unit launched the "HIV prevention and research in Uganda Police Force" programme. The launch event was conducted at the Nsambya Police Barracks and was presided over by the Director Human Resources in the UPF, Mr. Benson Oyo Nyeko.

The programme, whose theme is "Together in HIV/AIDS prevention and research", aims to offer HIV prevention strategies such as voluntary counselling and testing, health education, condom distribution and appropriate referrals, to assess the feasibility and acceptability of conducting HIV prevention research including future HIV vaccine trials among adults.

The programme will cover the 15 barracks in the Kampala metropolitan area and will initially run for one year.
