The MRC/UVRI and LSHTM Uganda Research Unit joined efforts to fight the COVID-19 outbreak in Uganda by supporting Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) with 10,000 COVID-19 tests. The tests are funded by grant from Medical Research Council UK/UK Research and Innovation (MRC/UKRI). The Unit is also making available staff, facilities and laboratory capacity to support Uganda’s fight against coronavirus including genetic sequencing of the virus.
Update on the sequencing effort will be published in collaboration with UVRI and the Ministry of Health soon.
