SARS-CoV-2 entry into Uganda: initial viruses documented using rapid local sequencing

Researchers at MRC/UVRI and LSHTM Uganda Research Unit and the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI), Ministry of Health (MoH) and their partners have generated the first Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) full genomes using rapid local sequencing.

Data from twenty viral genomes from individuals arriving from regions with circulating SARS-CoV-2 were obtained using Nanopore sequencing and are now publicly available in GISAID. (https://www.gisaid.org/)
