My number one thing to do when I feel alone
Gayatri: Listen to songs.
Karen: I watch videos of my niece and nephew to remind myself of my motivations for studying abroad.
Shereen: Go to the gym for a fun gym class - it sounds silly but the endorphin release always makes me feel better! At classes I usually see someone I know so I get the social aspect without having to make plans, which can often feel daunting.
Gladys: Don't hesitate to reach out to other people! Whether it's your friends here or even family & friends back home. Or, if you feel alone but a bit low in energy to interact with others, you can go to places where you can enjoy the presence of other people but with less interaction, such as parks, book cafes, etc.
Winston: Call or message a good friend or family member.
My top spots to go to in London treat me better
Gayatri: I personally love Regents Park and Hyde Park. It is so much easier to unwind by looking at the beautiful Rose Gardens in Regents Park and swans at Hyde Park.
Karen: Queen Mary's Rose Garden. It is beautiful, it makes me connect with nature and watching other people enjoying it as well gives me a sense of community.
Shereen: I live next to Westfield Stratford so mainly just the shopping centre or food court for some retail therapy or a nice meal as a pick-me-up! In summer I love going to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and getting ice cream or iced coffee.
Gladys: Hampstead! I really love the area, it has a peaceful ambience and is quieter compared to Central London. It really helps me to calm my mind, especially during exam season. I really enjoy taking a walk through the neighbourhood or exploring Hampstead Heath. There are also many cafes where you can sit down, do your assignments or just chill with your favorite book while enjoying hot drinks and cakes :)
Winston: My bedroom, a balcony or point overlooking the city (to relax and reflect).
