Alexandra Blair

Educational/professional background

I earned an Honours Specialization in Biology at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. Additionally, I participated in an academic exchange program at Bangor University in Bangor, Wales, UK, completing one semester of coursework. During my undergraduate studies, I worked two summers at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency in a monoclonal and serological laboratory, and concurrently, I volunteered at the Guthrie Laboratory, a bioinformatics group at the University of Western Ontario.

Research interests or career goals

I am interested in the control of infectious diseases, with a particular focus on the intersection between animal and human health. Following my MSc, I plan to work in the public sector.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

I choose the MSc One Health at LSHTM/RVC as both institutions are renowned worldwide for their human, animal, and environmental health expertise. Both institutions are committed to fostering diversity amongst their student body, both professionally and culturally, cultivating an inclusive and multicultural environment. This emphasis aligned with my belief in enriching the power of varied perspectives, a crucial aspect of One Health.
