Educational/professional background
I received my BSc from Salem State University in Healthcare Studies. Before starting my MSc Public Health, I worked as a Program Assistant and Project Coordinator in Boston, MA on the HEALing Communities Study which aimed to test evidence-based interventions and approaches to reduce overdose deaths across 66 municipalities across four states.
Research interests or career goals
I am interested in continuing is research to serve traditionally marginalised communities and also working in health promotion and supporting interventions to reach underserved communities.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I chose LSHTM and public health because I was interested in non-clinical ways to improve health and wellbeing. With my previous experience in research, I was interested in gaining public health knowledge to connect back to my professional experience. I was also attracted to the MSc in Public Health because it had the Health Promotion stream option, and I was interested in learning more about preventative health and building interventions. Lastly, I was attracted to the school’s international student and faculty population, which provides unique and diverse perspectives I could learn from in every class.
