Educational/professional background
After obtaining my PhD in human genetics, I worked as a science communicator and research alliance officer at a university research institute in Japan. Additionally, I engaged in public health activities in Cambodia before joining LSHTM.
Research interests or career goals
My professional and personal experiences have fostered my interest in inequities in health and healthcare access, particularly (but not exclusively) among migrants. In the future, I aspire to contribute to improving their health through research and/or health promotion activities.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
LSHTM was my dream school, offering unparalleled learning opportunities from leading experts in public health, incredible diversity, and a global network. I chose the MSc Public Health programme to explore health through various lenses—political, socioeconomic, cultural, and more—and to apply this knowledge in real-world settings. My view on health has been continually evolving since joining the School, which is truly exciting.
Extra information
The programmes are intense, but the School, staff, and peers are very supportive throughout your academic journey. I would personally encourage more people from non-medical backgrounds to join us— public health is such a multidisciplinary field, and the interplay of diverse expertise creates a powerful synergy to address health issues. There’s a place for everyone to shine!
