Educational/professional background

I have a bachelor’s degree in public health from the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO). I am now studying MSc Sexual & Reproductive Health Policy & Programming. I did a short course on health systems strengthening at the University of Nottingham. I also took additional courses in Implementation Research for Diseases of Poverty through the WHO/TDR programme. My experience cut across the design and implementation of high-impact health interventions in LMICs. I have worked across different programme areas including immunization, sexual and reproductive health, nutrition, malaria, COVID-19, and HIV/AIDS. My work has been around supporting ministries of health at the national and sub-national levels to implement strategies to improve population health.

Research interests or career goals

My research interests are in gender, adolescent, and health economics. I am interested in understanding gender-related barriers to access to health as well as in applying a gender lens to design inclusive health programmes. I am also interested in mainstreaming gender in existing health programmes. My current research focus is on adolescent sexual and reproductive health. To understand their barriers to health and how to reduce those barriers.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

I chose LSHTM because it is one of the leading public health and research institutions in the world.
