Educational/professional background
Hello! My name is Hannah McGregor, and my background is in Life Sciences. I completed my undergrad in Canada at Queen’s University in 2023. In my undergrad I completed a research project in Epidemiology which evaluated the ability of a novel frailty index to predict costs in a cardiac surgery setting for patients in Ontario.
Research interests or career goals
I am currently interested in exploring surveillance methods for infectious diseases. I hope to learn more about this area and how it could be used in the newly emerging technology era of AI.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I chose LSHTM for several reasons. During my final year in my undergrad, I completed a short course which related to health and disability. We were fortunate enough to have a tour of LSHTM and were given a talk from current students discussing their current research. I enjoyed the talk so much that I started researching into the School and found myself wanting to apply. At the same time, one of my professors had mentioned his experience at LSHTM for his PhD and had said nothing but positive things about the School. The School's reputation for diversity in teaching methods, as well as among its student and faculty population, further solidified my decision to pursue studies at LSHTM.
