Educational/professional background

I hold a medical bachelor's degree from India. Prior to enrolling at LSHTM, I practised as a medical doctor for four years. During this time, I worked in mobile medical units along the Indo-Myanmar border and in Jharkhand, providing healthcare to indigenous tribes. My experience extends across diverse clinical settings, ranging from primary government setup to multi-specialty hospitals in India.  I then joined a public health research fellowship in India.

Coming from a state with one of the highest doctor-to-population ratios and having worked in one of the states with the least, I observed significant healthcare gaps that urgently needed attention. This realization made me a public health enthusiast from being a doctor who believed in clinical medicine.

Research interests or career goals

My interests lie in chronic infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, and health policy. Currently, I serve as a student liaison officer for the LSHTM TB Centre. Upon graduation, I aim to work with international organizations to gain practical experience in the public health sector. In the years ahead, I aspire to establish an NGO in India dedicated to improving accessible and equitable healthcare for all.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

When I decided to pursue an MSc Public Health, I knew I had to enroll at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine to gain a global perspective on public health. The university not only offers a variety of modules to choose from but also provides lectures from leading global public health experts and fosters a diverse student community. It's a challenging yet rewarding degree and experience.
