Research interests or career goals

After living and working abroad in Japan, I gained an interest in reproductive health in adolescents and immigrant populations. I hope to take my experience with me back to Japan and work in either research and/or health promotion for vulnerable populations. I'm still seeing where the course takes me!

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

LSHTM is the best of the best, and I wanted to be in an environment where I would learn and grow the most. MSc Public Health is quite broad, and that comes with several benefits: it can be into various careers and it attracts a student body with varying expertise and backgrounds. I've learned an equal amount from my peers as I've learned from the courses themselves.

Any extra information

Coming from a non-medical background, at times it has felt intimidating to know I'm in a seminar full of doctors, or that I lack knowledge my peers have. Despite this, I feel very supported by resources at the School and also by my peers who support me every step of the way. The School is also very receptive to feedback and tries to make the courses as inclusive as possible.
