Educational/professional background

Hello! My name is Niamh and I’m from Ireland. I am a full-time MSc Public Health (General Stream) student at LSHTM. I am a medical doctor by training, and now hoping to move into public health.

Research interests or career goals

I am particularly interested in non-communicable diseases and issues related to the social, political and commercial determinants of health. My dream is to work with a government or with a European body or international organisation such as the WHO!

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

I chose LSHTM because it was recommended to me by past pupils. LSHTM has a fantastic reputation. I also wanted to try living somewhere new and expand my horizons. London is a great place to live and I am delighted to be here. I am really enjoying the coursework as well as student life. 

Any extra information

I have joined a cycling club and am taking tennis lessons. The class is very social and supportive of each other. I would be happy to try to answer any questions you might have about the programme or about life in London.
