I am a medical doctor by training and obtained my degree from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. I have been in clinical practice and have also worked with Médecins Sans Frontières.
Research interests or career goals
I recently became interested in clinical trials and I am concerned by the glaring dearth of clinical trials in Nigeria and indeed, Africa as a whole compared to other regions of the world. I plan to be eventually positioned as a leader in contributing to clinical trials in Africa.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
There were three major things I looked out for in choosing where to study. Firstly, I wanted to study at a highly reputable institution with leading experts in their fields. I also needed to enrol in a distance learning programme as my current family dynamics required it. Finally, I needed flexibility in my studies. LSHTM fit the bill perfectly!
I would advise students, especially those on a distance learning programme, that it is extremely beneficial to start early as it could take some time to understand and properly navigate through the resources available, before getting into a rhythm that works well for you.
