Educational/professional background
I have a medical background, I completed my clinical and surgical internships in Italy and France, focusing primarily on gynaecology and infectious diseases. I also gained clinical and research experience in a hospital in Northern Uganda, where I worked in HIV and gynaecology wards and participated in activities of health promotion in the communities.
Research interests or career goals
My research interests lie in women’s health and infectious diseases. My goal is to combine research and clinical practise with the management and implementation of health projects in humanitarian settings, especially in sub-Saharan Africa. I am passionate about increasing equitable healthcare delivery to disadvantaged communities, by addressing geographic and socio-economic barriers.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I chose LSHTM because of its prestige as global leader in public health research and its dedication to decolonizing global health. What I did not expect, however, was finding such a stimulating, inclusive and multicultural environment. Within my program, focused on LMICs, I am fortunate to be part of a small, cohesive cohort of professionals with diverse origins and backgrounds. Peer learning opportunities enable us to share previous work experiences, develop critical thinking, and explore innovative ways to create a positive impact.
