I completed medical training at University College London. This included gaining an integrated BSc in Medical Sciences and Neuroscience. Following this, I moved to Leeds to complete my foundation years of training as a junior doctor.
Research interests or career goals
Following completion of this MSc, I plan to re-enter medical training with the ultimate aim of becoming a consultant in infectious diseases and microbiology. I hope to combine clinical work with public health research, with a particular focus on refugee and migrant health.
By completing this MSc, I hope to gain key skills in epidemiology and public health that will help me be a better advocate for the communities I serve.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
The TMIH master’s programme run at LSHTM incorporates the DTM&H (Diploma in Hygiene and Tropical Medicine). This is an internationally recognised qualification and a requisite for working with Médecins Sans Frontieres (MSF). The opportunity to gain this diploma within the master’s programme is a huge advantage of attending this university. Additionally, the second and third term module choices are incredibly broad with the option of studying almost any module offered at the School. This flexibility allows me to tailor my choices very specifically to my interests and future career aspirations.
