​​Child protection: What you need to consider when running parent support groups​

Exploring issues to consider in relation to child protection

This will be an engaging 60 minute online webinar exploring ​ issues to consider in relation to child protection; to ensure our groups are truly safe spaces for children and families and that facilitators can respond accordingly to any concerns.​ 

This event is open to everyone with interest or experience in implementing programmes for children with developmental disability and their caregivers and will share learning from the Ubuntu Hub programmes.  

The webinar will include: 

​​A presentation on child protection; its definitions; signs of abuse and our role and responsibilites as group facilitators in protecting children and families.

​This will be followed by an interactive discussion with attendees on our role and responsibilities and Q&A.

Attendees will learn about:

  1. What child protection and child safeguarding means and its importance when working with families 
  2. Understand signs and symptoms of  different types of abuse. 
  3. Understand your roles and responsibilities as group facilitators in safeguarding the children and caregivers attending our groups or when visiting at home. 
  4. Understand actions to be in place to prevent and address child protection issues.
